Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick Swatches

ICON; EMPRESS; ROSE; CANVAS

I adore my liquid lipsticks. They have a matte finish, a creamy, non-drying texture and are very easy to apply. Hourglass is a cosmetic range I have not truly ventured into. It's a luxuries brand; along the same lines of Nars Cosmetics and a lot of the stuff they have in the collection seems to be top notch. These new liquid lipsticks are just that; top notch and luxurious.

ICON; EMPRESS; ROSE; CANVAS (EXCUSE ULTRA DRY HANDS -__-)

I ended up choosing four colours after trying out one of them because, well, I couldn't help myself, to be honest. I chose Icon because it was a gorgeous deep blue red, and in fact, it is very similar to the now discontinued Chanel Dragon! Empress was purchased purely after Arianne of the Glitter Geek posted it on her blog here! Rose was the first colour I purchased and I am not usually one to buy pink lipsticks but Rose just looked so lively and youthful on my skin, I couldn't resist. Lastly, Canvas, which does look similar to Rose is actually a lot more on the nude side. It is also a touch lighter.

CHANEL DRAGON; ICON; EMPRESS; ROSE; CANVAS (ERR...ESPECIALLY DRY HANDS HERE..)

You can see how Chanel Dragon and Icon are almost exactly the same. Icon is a little darker and a lot more of a blue based red. The texture is also a lot more matte. Looking at my picture, I swear it would seem as if I swatched one colour twice but Rose and Canvas ARE different haha

One thing I can't help but point out is the wand. Its a narrow, slightly tappered doe foot applicator that has a little bounce; the foot and the wand are "bendy" so it makes applying the product on the lips a lot easier! My only problem with the line though is that I wished it had more colours, like a true nude and more warmer shades. Majority of the line consists of pinks, reds and one orange. Also, don't expect to get 14 hours of wear, like the brand promises. I say, possibly around six?

But, do I recommend them? Heck yeah!
