Finally, a book post.
I don't feature very many book type posts in this blog, which ironic because this is supposed to be a "beauty and book" blog haha. But, today I will! I picked up four books this past week, all of which I hadn't expected to get at all. Most of the time, when I shop for anything, I always check reviews. I don't usually buy things out of the whim in fear of it being something I wasn't expecting. These four novels were that - unexpected buys. Now, I really don't need any more books just like I really don't need any more makeup but when I see an interested storyline I just can't help but get drawn in.
As you can see, most of the books featured have a specific theme. The Book of Madness and Cures takes place in Italy during the renaissance, which is probably my most favourite period in history. The Shoemakes Wife is another historical fiction novel that take places during the second world war, which again, I love reading about.
Waiting for the Monsoon is an indian tale about a british woman falling in love with a tailor. I adore indian novels. I always find that the stories are rich in imagery and landscape and the culture is so exquisite that its hard not to get absorbed into the narrative. Lastly, I got The Hunger Games. This once sticks out like a sore thumb. I had not intention of reading this book, seriously! Everyone just won't shut up about it and when my aunt told me she read it (and she is like 60) I decided to just take the plunge and give it a try. I started reading this last night and I can tell you this: I do not like the writing style. Along with this novel, I am also reading Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughter House Five just so I can balance it out haha. I am almost done that one though...
Tell me, what books do you like to read? Do any of these appeal to you and have you read The Hunger Games and is probably not a teenager? Tell me in the comments below!! :D
