Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders Review

I was on the verge of running out of my usual skin care products, which consisted of nothing more than a cleanser and a moisturizer that I used both day and night, when I decided to pop into to Sephora to explore my options. I was quite shocked at the variations of different product lines and products there were and eventually ran away from the store because I was so overwhelmed. Back home, I decided to do a little research before jumping into the purchases. Skin care, unlike makeup, is very finicky. There are so many factors to consider when it comes to your skin and picking up something that everyone is raving about doesn't make sense since everybody's needs are completely different.

Behold Ole HenriksenI was already a little familiar with the brand because of my night time cleanser so I decided to peek into the company some more to see what else they had to offer. I wrote a list of what I wanted improving on and searched through all the possible products that could somewhat satisfy this need. Brighter and more even skin - tackle the few breakouts I get and have - light exfoliation - natural ingredients. Ultimately, the Ole Henriksen Little Wonders Kit fulfilled all those requirements.

The first product in the kit is the Sheer Transformation day moisturizer with vitamin c complex, licorice root and pea extract.

One thing that becomes quite evident in all these products is the Vitamin C because it is the key ingredient the helps you achieve brighter and more even skin. Licorice Root serves as an anti-inflammatory agent the helps soothe irritated or red skin. Pea Extract contains vital amino acids and proteins necessary for the production of elastin and collagen. This product not only promises to do that but it also helps to fight off free radicals and reduce hyper pigmentation. (Sounds like a super hero) The texture of the cream looks thick but has a light water like texture. It blends into the skin quite immediately, has a nice cooling feeling and gives enough hydration to skin without making it greasy. This product is oil free so it is excellent for oily skin but I find it will also work well for those of you with normal to combination skin as well.

The second product in the kit is the Invigorating Night Gel that is supposed to help vanish the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation and breakouts with AHA. It says it also contains both Vitamin E and C, purified algae extract and mucopolysaccharides.

This night gel is more of a gel treatment that works best in the night time while your skin is repairing it self. Other than the Vitamin C, Vitamin E is has anti-aging properties and prevents your skin from becoming a victim of prolonged sun exposure. It also helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and helps maintain the skins oil balance. AHA or Alpha Hydroxy Acid (glycolic acid) is a natural fruit acid that helps reduce fine lines, age or brown spots and is also helpful for those who are acne prone. Algae Extract is a natural extract that keeps skin moisturized while providing increased protection against harmful irritants and acne. Mucopolysaccharides (jeez.) allows your skin to keep its elasticity and helps maintain smoother and softer skin longer.

This product is packed full of natural ingredients (which is why it works better at night) and is one of the reasons why I think it works more like a treatment that a moisturizer, although to my oily skin, it works fine alone. The gel like consistency is a little sticky at first (probably the mucopolysaccharides) but once it blends in it dries quickly and settles into the skin nicely. It slightly hydrates although others with more normal or drier skin might want to overlap another moisturizer on top. It does tingle a little bit but that feeling is subject to the person. Overall, I really like the way this product works.

Lastly, this product was the reason why I purchased the kit in the first place - Truth Serum Collagen Booster. This is said to be a super hydrator infused with green tea extract, orange extract and complete Vitamin C complex.

This is the reason why I don't need to moisturize after the invigorating night gel, It instantly infuses my skin with enough moisture and makes my skin super smooth and soft. I love it! The other ingredients in this offer additional benefits. The Green Tea Extract is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent that helps soothe and protect the skin. Orange Extract helps reduce sunburns, blemishes and dark spots and has a mild bleaching property that assists in lighting and evening skin. It also is packed full of Vitamin E which also helps with anti-aging issues. This also, I assume, gives it that orangey smell that I like. :)

Vitamin C
Now, one of the major issues with Vitamin C is its ability to oxidized - this factor allows the product to ultimately be ineffective. When vitamin c oxidizes it turns to a yellowy-orange colour. Obviously, with this serum being orange, you will not be able to tell whether or not it has oxidized. However, with a little research, I found that the vitamin c used in this product - Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate - is a more stable form of vitamin c and the risk of oxidization is greatly reduced. It is considered a better form of vitamin c than the traditional L-ascorbic acid, which is used in many products today, and is also considered to be less harsh. It is recommended to find products containing the first variation of vitamin c rather than the latter.

I am going to provide you guys with a quick run down of the packaging of these products because I believe there is much to be said about them. Although the contents of the products are incredible, I really wish the company would change the packaging. Because of the amount of natural ingredients in these products, the two moisturizers would benefit from being in a pump type dispenser rather than a jar to prevent oxygen exposure as well. It is also more hygienic and allows me not to waste so many q-tips every time I need to extract some product. The pump dispenser for the vitamin c is of awful construction. I have to usually cover the nozzle in order to prevent the product from spurting out (like it did once) making  it incredibly difficult to control the amount of serum I need to use. So, other than construction I highly recommend you give this kit a shot, especially if you too are looking for the same properties I am.

I purchased this value kit for $85CAN, which is considerably cheaper than buying them individually. Also, make sure you store these products in a cold dark area to prevent the natural ingredients to sun exposure.

I hope you guys enjoyed this very informative review. Unlike makeup, skin care needs to be heavily researched. I recommended looking into all if not most of the ingredients in the products and hope you will be pursued to look into the kit further.

If you have any more questions, please let me know below! Have a great rest of the week my beauties!
